Our Story

Felicia Suzanne’s recently earned a Recommendation in the 2025 MICHELIN Guide for the American South, further cementing the restaurant’s reputation as one of the region’s premier dining destinations. Known for thoughtful Southern cuisine, warm hospitality, and a dedication to seasonal cooking, the restaurant continues to help shape Memphis dining through a deeply personal and community-driven approach.

After more than 20 successful years in its original location, Felicia Suzanne’s relocated to the vibrant and historic South Main Arts District in Downtown Memphis — a neighborhood owners Felicia Suzanne Willett-Schuchardt and Clay Schuchardt proudly call home. The restaurant is housed in the former Fred P. Gattas department store building, a beloved South Main landmark that will celebrate its 100th anniversary in July. The move marks an exciting new chapter for the restaurant while honoring both its own legacy and the rich history of the neighborhood.

A graduate of Johnson & Wales University in Charleston, South Carolina, Felicia refined her culinary foundation during an eight-year tenure in New Orleans under legendary Chef Emeril Lagasse. Her cuisine reflects both classical technique and Southern soul, highlighting sustainable, seasonal ingredients and flavors inspired by the places and people she loves most.

Sustainability and community remain central to the restaurant’s philosophy. From sourcing thoughtfully raised ingredients to creating dishes rooted in family traditions, Felicia Suzanne’s celebrates a genuine sense of place while embracing the evolving spirit of Southern cuisine.

Clay Schuchardt, originally from Jonesboro, Arkansas, joined the restaurant team in 2017 and now leads front-of-house operations full time alongside Felicia. Together with their team, they have created a warm, welcoming restaurant experience that reflects their passion for hospitality and the energy of South Main.

Felicia and Clay married in 2019 and live in South Main, where they are often seen walking their dog, Loula Belle, or cheering on the Arkansas Razorbacks, Memphis Tigers, and Memphis Grizzlies. They are also the proud parents of twin daughters attending the University of Alabama.

While Felicia has received numerous culinary accolades throughout her career, she remains especially proud of the restaurant’s philanthropic support of organizations such as Make-A-Wish, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital.

In addition to Felicia Suzanne’s, Felicia and Clay are preparing to open Flo’s next door — a more casual concept offering grab-and-go options, approachable favorites, and the same heartfelt hospitality guests have come to love.

Today, Felicia Suzanne’s stands as a celebration of Southern hospitality, seasonal cuisine, family traditions, and the enduring energy of historic South Main Memphis.
